The valley of Casies, at 1.200 m above sea level, extends approximately 18 km between the foothills of the Vedrette di Ries and the range of the Alps of Defregger. From Monguelfo one arrives over a well built road at the locations Colle, San Martino and Santa Maddalena. Parts of the community of Val Casies are Colle di Dentro, Colle di Fuori, Planca di Sopra, Planca di Sotto, San Martino Valbassa, San Martino Vallalta, Santa Maddalena Valbassa and Santa Maddalena Vallalta.
In winter the valley offers approximately 40 km of cross-country slopes, and each February the sport highlight of the year takes place, the international cross-country competition for everyone the „Gran Fondo della Val Casies“.
Besides cross-country, many other activities are waiting for you, such as alpine ski, sledging, ice skating, hiking in winter and summer, swimming, tennis etc.
