Terento / Terenten: Hotels, B&B, Residence and holiday apartments
Terento, at an elevation of 1.210 m, is located on a sunny high altitude plateau above the valley of Pusteria and the valley of Fundres in the East.
„The sun never goes down in Terento“, says a well-known proverb. Indeed, here you can enjoy a bit longer the sunny hours then in other South Tyrolean places, due to the high elevation. Therefore Terento is also called „the sunny village“! >>><<<
The wonderful landscape contributes making this place so unique; the panorama views to the small villages in the valley, to the peaks of the Dolomites in the South East and to the mountains of the valley of Sarentino in the West, reveal a pure and untouched nature and give an impression of absolute peace and silence.
The very pleasant climate favoured the construction of this settlement site already during pre-historical time. Multiple ancient finds and wall fragments have been found in St. Zeno, Pflanger- and Prügstallkopf, which demonstrate how far the roots reach back into the past. But also in the recent past there is a lot to see, such as the parish church St. Georg, as well as the small church St. Zeno in Pein dated from the 12th or 13th century and, the church St. Margareth in Margen with its frescos, triptychs and sculptures.
Worth mentioning and geologically very interesting are the earth pyramids – eroded debris, which impress through their bizarre shapes.
Don’t neglect to visit the valley of Mulini where the old corn mills can be admired, which are still functioning. A further phenomenon is the biotope Picher Moos in Pein.
The possibilities for mountain enthusiasts are truly large; extensive hiking tours are just one of the plenty options.
In summer the fantastic mountain landscape invites for climbing, adventurous excursions, an alp lodge-tour, to climb the highest peaks, from where you have an extraordinary view.
In the sports centre of Terento one can practice even more sport, from tennis to soccer, to volleyball to minigolf.
For all those who would like to learn skiing combined with fun, there is the ski school and the panorama-cable car next to each other. The cross-country slopes, the skating rink for skating and playing skittles, the toboggan run and the immense variety of slopes of the Plan de Corones, easily accessible by the free ski bus, will make your holiday everything else then monotonous.
Music concerts, performance of folkloristic groups „Schuhplattler“, village festivals and cultural events allow the visitors to dip into the local traditions and to relive them.
